I Met My Match (Stix Trio)

In all my years working in the beauty industry, I’ve never used a concealer and foundation from the same cosmetics brand. Pretty interesting, huh? Despite each beauty brand out there thoughtfully curating complementing formulas that sleekly accentuate the other’s consistency, finish, and coverage, I hadn't met my concealer and foundation match.

Are many of you also realizing the same exact thing right now?

From NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer, and Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation, Armani Luminous Silk Foundation or Jay Manuel Beauty Skin Perfector, my list of bespoke cosmetic regimens goes on (seriously, I’m sparing you).

So when I got my hands on the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio in TAN 300, you can imagine that I had slight skepticism on how all three products would perform and match my shade. But, let’s just say, I may have found what I didn’t realize I needed or was even looking for.

What is the Match Stix Trio? It’s a magnetized trio of long-wear, light-as-air makeup sticks that conceal, contour and highlight. It basically takes your complexion to the next level without the guesswork,  hence the pre-bundled set. Each of the sticks is buildable, easy to blend, lives to be layered and stays put on your face and in your bag. The magnetic packaging clicks together so it’s easy to find your makeup in your bag. Did someone say #bonus?

The Match Stix Trio is available in Light 100, Medium 200, Tan 300, and Deep 400 The formulas are cruelty-free and are made without sulfates, parabens, and phthalates.

How do you use it? I have been using my Match Stix (TAN 300) one of two ways. The first way is with my beloved Beautyblender. I’ll swipe the Match Stix products onto my skin and then bounce and blend. Alternatively, I will use my fingers to warm the Match Stix formula up on the back of my hand before I tap it on to my skin.

  • STEP 1 CONCEAL: Conceal any blemishes, hyper-pigmentation or dark circles.
  • STEP 2 CONTOUR: Use a color that’s 2-3 shades deeper than your natural skin tone to accentuate your features and bronze your skin.
  • STEP 3 HIGHLIGHT: Light up any way you please (brow bones, cheekbones, etc.).

Using either technique, I get seamless, buildable coverage that matches my skin tone! Cue the heart eyes. These versatile makeup sticks are definitely worth lusting over. Thanks, Rihanna!

So if you’re looking to highlight, blush, enhance, conceal and bronze your skin, I suggest checking out the Match Stix Trio. It’s a bang for your buck (the set retails for $54; it's a $75 value), and the buildability of the formula calls for some serious shade luck!
